Dr. Aye Kyaw (1936-2012)
New York-01/19/2012- Dr. Aye Kyaw-76-was passed away by lung cancer during the doctor cured his disease at the place of Maimonides Medical Center. He was suffering over one month ago. He left his wife, three daughters and three sons.
He was born on December 30, 1936, Tan Lwey Chaung village, ToungKook Township, Arakan. His parents were U Lu Moung and Daw Hla Won Oo.
He studied a B.A (History and Religion), Rangoon University in1959 and learned a B.A. (Honors) Oriental History, Rangoon University in 1960. He passed a M.A (History of Asia), Rangoon University in 1964 and a B.L (Law), Rangoon University in 1966. He earned a Ph.D in Southeast Asia History at Monash University in Australia.
Dr. Aye Kyaw taught several universities in around the World such as Burma, Thailand and U.S.
Dr. Aye Kyaw was a well-known scholar and wrote a lot of Article and some books on education and culture for both Arakanese and Burmese. He always worked for Arakanese National interest when he studied in Kyauk Pru College and Rangoon University with his close friends led by late U San Kyaw Tun (M.A) under the great influence of late Saragree U U Tha Tun.
He served as patron of Arakan League for Democracy (Exile) as well as a President of World Arakanese Organization.
After he passed away, All Arakanese and Organization have stated their deepest condolence and they said “We mourned over the death of our leader”.
