The mission of the World Arakanese Organization (WAO) is to sponsor, coordinate and facilitate various social, educational and cultural activities of Arakanese communities through the cooperation of Arakanese from around the world.
About Us
World Arakanese Organization (WAO) is the first worldwide and largest social organization of the Arakanese. Due to the need of umbrella organization to bring all Arakanese living in all parts of the world together and to spearhead their capacity for the greater good of Arakan, WAO was officially founded, with unswerving support at all levels from Arakanese across the world WAO, in March 5, 2005 in New York City, USA. Since them, WAO has been working diligently on social platform to make a difference on the lives of Arakanese. Currently, there are WAO Sections in Japan, Australia, USA, Europe, and Malaysia with the headquarters in New York City.

In solidarity with global Arakanese community; we pursue our mission with excellence, compassion and modesty. Profoundly guided by inspirations of our faith, value, legacy and true vision that unites us as a people to meet the tests of history that would define our future.
Our ancestral land of Arakan state is unquestionably promising, due to spirit and character of the people who have been able to remain and preserve unique customs, history and culture, which had existed since the dawn of civilization. Even at present, the very name of Arakan is a living source of inspiration in hearts of Arakanese across the world since they are conscious of the contribution to Arakan towards the growth and development of their culture, literature, and spiritual heritage, and they are anxious to see their homeland once more restored to its pristine glory.
From glorious achievement of past rise our aspiration for the global future: aspiration backed by profound perceptive to show the character of Arakanese to be solidly united people with echoing confidence around the world inspired to work as a family and team. With this end in view we organized for the first time at Tokyo in January and at New York in February 2005 to find a common platform network. As result commitment, dedication, devotion and cooperation shown at all levels by the Arakanese across the world we have been able to create a true vision for long-term values possibility an important international organization and its role for a better future. “The World Arakanese Organization” is the outcome of that very endeavor. Seeking sincere cooperation from each of you from all corners, we are unswervingly prepared to enlighten all earning with good name of WAO. This organization stands for the cause of Arakanese, for tolerance, for reason, for progress, for the adventure of ideas committing to benefit all.
Lives of our forefather who once glorified Arakan remind us that we can make our lives sublime and meaningful departing behind us footprints on the sands of times. These forefathers were courageously and boldly safeguarding to ancestral land and its pristine glory whose noble services remind us of our mission as a global organization---to build a future worthy of our pledge and sacrifice. Although we have faced serious challenges together--and we all are now duty-bound to face a choice to move forward. Unbiased Corporation based on national interest is the only means to achieve the goal of our organization. As true spirit of Arakanese, we must show our greatness, not just for message, our contribution must be a light to the homeland. Instead of the different ideologies that almost ruined our unity, let us share the burden and responsibilities as true Arakanese, so that together we can address the future cause of our ancestral land. History can’t be rewritten, but we are obviously facing to the tasks of history much about the characters and confidences that unite us in our diversity, the values that sustain us in time of trial, and the vision that inspires generation after generation of Arakanese to perform extraordinary acts of service committing to our ancestral land and its immortal legacy.
Like perseverance that constitutes our core competence we, the organizers of the WAO, keep our feet firmly on the ground while steadfastly pursuing our dream and vision as a global cooperation for a future of Arakan. We unstintingly endeavored to make WAO reality to bring a hope to our adored Arakanese. In the most liberalized climate now prevalent, we stand on the threshold of an exciting future---not without its cost, its challenges, and its risks. We must face up to the real world and measure up to these demanding times if we are to make a crucial contribution.
This aspiration is to do more; to achieve greater good makes us conscious of necessity of raising our sights, of building for a future. In WAO we are always searching, always questioning, always reaching out, always finding. We are trying to be a world Arakanese organization in ourselves--- a world of WAO that keeps beating in our heart.
Thus in decisive test, what matters is not where we are but the direction in which we are going. What matters more than our devotion and dedication through overall cooperation in working as a family and team is the spirit of striving that they signify the spirit of the world Arakanese organization.
The most important and challenging issues we have to address are called to great responsibilities we are compelled to meet them with opportunity and obligation. Commitment, collectivity and hard-work are fundamental principle to move ourselves ahead. Together we can create life of dignity for our own future as we belonged to a promised land where our forefather’s unfolding memories tell us of the price past generations have paid so we might live in a more perfect union. They had indeed done a great service for the cause of value and human dignity reminds us also of legacy for our generation we must left behind meaningfully.
We believe that 21st century hold full of incredible promises for those who could manage the transition in a radically changing external environment. Rapid change in striving accomplishment of our long desired mission will be forced by changing behavior and advancement in information management and technology. “Change is the Law of life” and those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future. We truly believe in this dictum and are constantly looking ahead to face the future of challenges with greater determination. It is fervently believed that we have the potential to transfer our ancestral land into a vibrant state, which can hold its head high in comity nations. Let us hope that we have the will and wisdom to apply ourselves to the exciting task of rebuilding our value, heritage and dignity we fully cherished.
